MEET SWIMQUEST GUIDE
DAN WALLACE
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BE A SWIMQUEST GUIDE?
Becoming a guide for SwimQuest has allowed me to share my passion and experience for swimming to a wider community. This along with the reputation of SwimQuest is what drew me to becoming a guide.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE SWIM?
Fresh off the press, it has to be my recent English Channel Relay swim. I’m looking forward to more challenging swims in the future.
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT?
I feel very fortunate that swimming has allowed me to compete at a very high level and my proudest achievement has to be winning an Olympic silver medal for Team GB in 2016.
WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH OPEN WATER?
It’s a love affair! I find swimming therapeutic and extremely rewarding. It keeps me grounded and gives me purpose each day.
WHICH SWIMQUEST LOCATIONS HAVE YOU GUIDED? WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT THEM?
I have guided in Mathraki and I’m lucky enough to be returning again this year. What I love about this location is how remote and secluded it is, that’s exactly what you want when exploring the open water.
WHAT ARE YOUR SWIM PLANS / GOALS FOR THE UPCOMING YEAR?
My personal goals for this coming year are to check off more swimming challenges in Scotland, exploring the coastline I grew up in. I’m also looking at taking competitive ice swimming more seriously.
