READY FOR AN ADVENTURE? JOIN US FOR A TRANSFORMATIONAL EXPERIENCE ON THE IDYLLIC ISLAND OF FORMENTERA.
Would you like to go on an adventure? Do you sometimes feel like you need ‘saving from the waves’? Are you living the biggest, bravest, most beautiful life you can? If any of these questions resonate then join us on the idyllic island of Formentera (Ibiza's lesser-known little sister) for a magical week-long Adventure Retreat. Hosted by Jessica Hepburn - award-winning Author, Arts Producer and Adventure Activist; Alice Todd - Co-Founder of SwimQuest Holidays; and Caroline Stafford – Health Coach & Yoga Teacher we promise it will be a unique and unforgettable experience. It’s more than a holiday. It’s a journey - one that will leave you feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready to take on whatever comes next.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Formentera is the smallest and most laid back of all the Balearic islands with award-winning white sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters and long stretches of protected nature reserve. Our base for the week is the Roca Bella Hotel just a ten minute stroll along the boardwalk into the lovely town of Es Pujols on the north coast of the island.
The week long Adventure Retreat has been carefully curated to include a combination of inspiring and nurturing activities. We will adventure into nature, go on creative journeys and explore our inner worlds too. And all this will be fuelled by delicious food – think padron peppers and paella suppers.
Each day there will be a different swim and/or walk adventure - from sunrise dips to starlit strolls. We will climb up to the stunning La Mola Lighthouse situated on the highest point of the island (don't worry it's only 200 metres high!) and walk long stretches of sandy beaches in search of secret hidden swimming coves. Tuesday is designated as our Adventure Challenge Day. The goal of this is to choose an adventure which will stretch you and make your sundowner taste extra special. Throughout the week there will also be a series of inspirational talks (see itinerary for details) and creative journeys which celebrate the power of music, words and colour including ‘The Save Me From the Waves Soiree Supper’ inspired by Jessica’s Latest book. There will also be time for rest and reflection including gentle sunrise stretching and afternoon restorative movement led by our yoga teacher Caroline Stafford. Plus there will optional swim coaching, health coaching, massage therapy and more.
By the end of the week our aim is that you feel like you've been part of an experience which has been profoundly energizing and enriching. We want you to have challenged yourself and met that challenge with love; to have enjoyed deep conversation and connection that has developed lasting bonds of friendship and helped you to get to know yourself a better too. Intrigued? Excited? It’s an adventure in itself that will make you feel alive and won’t be like anything you’ve done before or can do anywhere else. All will be revealed - if you join us in Formentera.
ABOUT JESSICA HEPBURN
Jessica Hepburn is an unlikely-athlete-turned-record-breaking-adventurer. As a child she was the ‘arty’ not the ‘sporty’ one and spent most of her career working in the theatre running the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre for over a decade. Then in her mid 40s, after a series of difficult life events, she started to adventure her way out of heartbreak. In 2022, aged 51, she became the first woman in the world to complete the ‘Sea Street Summit Challenge’ (swim the English Channel, run a road marathon (London), and climb Mount Everest). She has become a champion for the physical and mental health benefits of all kinds of adventure, and is an official Ambassador for #AdventureMind. She is also the author of three books - The Pursuit of Motherhood; 21 Miles and Save Me From The Waves which are currently being adapted for the screen, and in 2024 will premiere her new theatre show at the Theatre Royal Plymouth ‘Jessica Hepburn’s Great Adventure’. ABOUT ALICE TODD
Alice is the co-founder of SwimQuest Holidays. In her twenties she took a massive risk and left her high-flying job in media to pursue her passion for swimming and the outdoors. She has dedicated the last 10 years of her life to sharing the magical and transformative nature of open water swimming with guests from all over the world. She has been instrumental in creating a unique platform that blends adventure, fitness, and personal growth - helping guests conquer fears, improve technique, and connect with nature in a profound way. As well as swimming, Alice runs and cycles and is also creative to the core – a DJ, writer, poet, artist – check out her Substack publication ‘Adventures in Wonderland’. Alice is also mum of twin boys and two Siberian husky girls. Her mission is to live life in full colour and inspire others to do the same.
ABOUT CAROLINE STAFFORD
Caroline Stafford is a health coach, yoga teacher, and biscuiteer extraordinaire. She founded her business – the Kitsch Hen - at a tough time in her life after she started baking biscuits stamped with messages of hope, and sending them in the post to others going through the same. From this a creative cookery company was born that bakes ‘edible inspiration’ for every occasion which is delivered to letterboxes throughout the UK and beyond. Alongside baking biscuits, Caroline is also a qualified health coach and trained yoga teacher. She brings compassion and creativity to everything she does and leads the restorative movement and reflection elements of our Adventure Retreats with her special style of gentle encouragement, and uplifting inspiration.
IS THIS TRIP FOR ME?
The Adventure Retreat is for people who’ve been through stuff – big stuff, little stuff, all the stuff. It’s for people who want to stop getting knocked down by life’s waves (or at least learn how to swim in them); and people who want to adventure towards a bigger, braver more beautiful life on this incredible planet.
It is suitable for people of all abilities and experience. You don’t need to be a good swimmer or have any prior experience of outdoor / cold water swimming. You don’t need to be physically fit or have experience of long distance walking. Nor do you need to be ‘creative’ or indeed have any knowledge of music, books etc. We just ask you to come with a sense of adventure and an openness to being inspired.

GETTING THERE
TRAVEL TO FORMENTERA
TRIP START / FINISH TIMES
- We will meet at 3pm on Saturday for welcome and briefing. We suggest arriving in Formentera at around 1pm to give you time to check into your room and settle in before the briefing. SwimQuest head office will ask for your travel times pre tour so that our swim guides can pick you up from Formentera harbour and take you to the hotel.
- The trip finishes after breakfast and farewell sharing circle on Friday morning. Check out is at 10am. Please note, your swim guides will travel back to Ibiza on Friday morning so if you are staying on the island post checkout you may need to book a taxi back to Formentera harbour - the hotel reception can help you with this.
FLY TO IBIZA
Fly to Ibiza and then jump in a taxi from the airport to Ibiza harbour to get the ferry to Formentera (please budget approx. €15-20 for this taxi journey.) Taxis are regular just outside the airport. Tell the taxi driver you are going to get a ferry to Formentera and he / she will drop you off by the Formentera ticket kiosks. For the cheapest flight options, have a look at www.skyscanner.co.uk.
FERRY FROM IBIZA TO FORMENTERA
There are a number of ferry companies offering a regular service (approx. every 30 minutes) from Ibiza to Formentera and back. Trasmappi, Balearia and Mediterranea–Pitiusa are popular options, cost the same and take the same amount of time (approx. 30-45 minute crossing). There is no need to buy a ticket in advance. Hint – when you buy a return ticket, it is worth checking that your return ferry journey allows you sufficient time to get to the airport, as you cannot transfer your ticket to another ferry provider and will have to purchase an additional single fare.
