This classic SwimQuest trip combines rewarding swimming with time to enjoy this magical location. Most days include two swims of varying distances – along beautiful coastlines, around and between islands and sometimes around entire islands. We return to the hotel for lunch each day before heading out again in the afternoon, with support boats always nearby so you can swim as much or as little as you wish.

On this trip, your SwimQuest guides work side by side with local experts Spyros and Katerina – locals who know these waters intimately, to bring you an itinerary that’s as full of discovery as it is of great swimming.

Nestled in the sparkling waters of the Saronic Gulf, just 58 kilometres from Athens, Poros is one of Greece’s most enchanting islands. Made up of two parts, the charming harbour town of volcanic Sphairia and the pine-clad limestone hills of Kalaureia – Poros offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, authentic Greek culture, and crystal-clear seas.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival and Acclimatisation

We meet in the hotel reception at 2pm to begin our adventure. After a warm welcome and safety briefing, we head to Askeli Bay for our acclimatisation swim – swimming eastward along the stunning coastline of the bay, a perfect opportunity to get comfortable in the water while taking in the beautiful surroundings.
Day 2

Bourtzi Castle and Coastal Exploration

This morning, we’ll embark on an unforgettable swim to the historic Castle Island (Bourtzi). After boarding boats at the hotel dock, we’ll make our way to a small islet near Stavros Church, nestled in the channel that separates Poros from the mainland. From there, we’ll weave through tiny islets to reach the impressive Castle of Bourtzi. This breathtaking island is just 1.5 km from our accommodation, but you’ll have the option of swimming a 3 km round trip or a shorter route, with the flexibility to combine both. This swim offers a blend of historical intrigue and mesmerising coastal views. After a well-deserved lunch, we’ll head out once more for a gentle coastal swim, perfect for stretching out your muscles and soaking up the tranquil atmosphere.
Day 3

Kanali Beach & Love Bay

We’ll start the day with a swim from Kanali Beach, following the dramatic volcanic coastline of Poros. As we swim, you’ll be captivated by the towering rock formations and the vibrant underwater world beneath you. After lunch, we’ll continue our adventure by swimming through the emerald waters of Love Bay, framed by overhanging trees. We’ll also pass by Eros Island, known for its heart-like shape, before reaching the historic Old Russian Naval Bay.
