Blaz Kavcic
Blaz is a swimming coach and Sport Science graduate from Slovenia, a small and remarkably unspoiled corner of the world nestled between the Alps, the Mediterranean, and countless crystal clear rivers and lakes. Fascinated by the details of swimming technique and efficient movement in the water, he has spent years helping swimmers of all abilities improve their skills and confidence.
Thanks to his extensive local knowledge, he loves taking guests beyond the guidebooks, along scenic backroads, hidden valleys, and lesser known swimming spots that most visitors would never find on their own. When he is not coaching, you’ll most likely find him exploring Slovenia’s pristine lakes, swimming beneath mountain peaks, or searching for the next perfect place to jump into the water.
I feel incredibly lucky to live in Slovenia, where nature is never far away. For me, open water swimming is about much more than distance or speed. It is about connecting with the landscape, experiencing the changing moods of the water, and finding freedom beyond the black line at the bottom of a pool. I love sharing not only the water, but also the stories, hidden roads, mountain views, and local places that make this part of the world so special. Whether swimming in an alpine lake, along a river, or in the sea, every swim is different and every swim is an adventure. I became a swim guide because there is nothing better than helping people discover places they would never have found by themselves.
