Philippines Itinerary
Nature and the weather can be unpredictable, so your flexibility is important. All swims are planned with safety at their heart, and your guides will adapt the plan day by day to ensure the best possible experience. Want to sit out part of a swim? Just let the guides know and hop back on the boat — no problem at all.
Arrival and acclimatisation
A representative will meet you at Busuanga airport and take you to the resort. You can settle into your room, and meet your fellow guests and guides for a welcome and briefing. Our first swim will be a gentle coastal swim along El Rio’s ‘House Reef’, getting ourselves used to our new surroundings and finding our feet in the water. This will be an easy swim so that the guides can get an idea of everyone’s swimming ability and (if you wish) film you swimming above and below the water so that we can provide coaching advice during the week.
Maricaban Bay
This morning we head out for our first swim, between the stunning islets in Maricaban bay, before stopping for lunch on one of the beautiful beaches in the area. In the afternoon, we will swim our first circumnavigation, taking in some of the incredible reefs around the shoreline, before heading back to the resort for sundowners and dinner.
Dugong and Dimipac Island
Today will be a full day out, as we venture out to to best place in the world to swim with Dugongs. Dugongs are gentle marine mammals, closely related to the manatee. Our local boat partners were the first operators in the Philippines to start the eco tourism programme for Dugongs (in 1998) and will help us navigate this incredible experience. During the day we will visit several feeding grounds for this gentle ocean creatures, as well as a swim along the coastline of Dimipac Island.
Marine sanctuary and inter-island exploring
Today we head out on the boats to Dimayaka Marine Sanctuary for a longer swim take in some of the incredible reefs in this area. After lunch, we attempt an inter island swim between Dimayaka and Lang Aw before heading back to the resort for a well deserved dinner.
Coron and Siete Picados marine park
Today we take a trip to Coron Island, south of Busuanga, to visit and swim in one of the islands spectacular lakes. Nestled within dramatic limestone cliffs, this is a truly unique swimming experience, with cliffs towering upwards and dropping away beneath you underwater. In the afternoon, we head to Siete Pecados Marine Park, a spectacular part of the world with a vast array of marine life – keep an eye out for turtles.
Cabilauan
Our last full day of swimming, and what a day we have planned! Today we will head across to Cabilauan Island, an island rarely visited on the tourist trail and ideal for longer coastal swims. We will attempt a longer 3-3.5km swim in the morning, before stopping for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy our last circumnavigation around Lauit Island before returning back to base for our final dinner together.
Sunrise swim and departures
Your guides will wake you up early and take you down to the beach for a sunrise swim before a leisurely breakfast and departures.
