UPCOMING SKILLS SESSIONS

Cassie Patten SwimQuest HolidaysWe are delighted to announce our 2018-19 winter skills series, held once again at Hampton Open Air Pool. Following a successful series last winter, we are following the same recipe:

  • An opportunity to learn from our Olympic Guest Coaches
  • A short land based skills session
  • One hour’s pool time putting your new skills into practice
  • A post-swim winter BBQ, included in the price

Our Hampton Open Air Pool winter skills sessions cost £70 each, or you can book all six as a block for £370 (a saving of £50). The price includes a winter BBQ dinner.

What to bring: Swimwear, goggles, swim hat, towel, warm clothing for after your swim (though the pool is heated, don’t panic!)

SATURDAY 3rd NOVEMBER
JAMES GODDARD’S BUTTERFLY MASTERCLASS
4.30PM – 6PM HAMPTON OPEN AIR POOL

During this session James breaks down the butterfly stroke and helps you to master each movement bit by bit. At the end of the session, you will have the opportunity to put it all back together again and will be given tips on how to improve your skills in this stroke and incorporate butterfly drills into your pool training, to really make the most of your time in the pool. Suitable for all ability levels, however we advise you should have some pool experience and be able to swim 25m comfortably without stopping. The group will be divided into ability lanes.

Saturday 17th november
JAMES GODDARD’S  BACKSTROKE MASTERCLASS
4.30pm – 6pm hampton oPEN AIR POOL

James Goddard made his Great Britain debut in 2000 and at his first Commonwealth Games in 2002 won 200m Backstroke gold and 200m Individual Medley silver. At his debut Olympics two years later he won his 200m backstroke semi final, but finished an agonising fourth place in the final, 0.2 sec off the medals. This is an incredible opportunity to learn backstroke fundamentals from a true expert. Suitable for all ability levels, however we advise you should have some pool experience and be able to swim 25m comfortably without stopping. The group will be divided into ability lanes.

Many of our guests who have learnt to swim as adults do not know how to tumble turn or dive into a pool with confidence. This is a great opportunity to learn these skills from scratch from Olympian James Goddard. After having explained the skills with a short land based seminar, we will head to the pool to practice these new skills, closely supervised by James and the SwimQuest guides.
Suitable for all ability levels, however we advise you should have some pool experience and be able to swim 100m comfortably without stopping.

SATURDAY 9TH FEBRUARY 2019
CASSIE PATTEN’S FRONT CRAWL CATCH MASTERCLASS
4.30PM – 6PM HAMPTON OPEN AIR POOL

Back by popular demand, during this session Olympic Medallist Cassie Patten talks us through the underwater phase of the front crawl stroke (also known as “the catch”) in detail, demystifying what is for many people the most difficult part of the stroke technique. Suitable for all ability levels, however we advise you should have some pool experience and be able to swim 100m comfortably without stopping.

JAMES GODDARD’S BREASTSTROKE MASTERCLASS

During this session you will learn how to swim with a smooth, effective and powerful breaststroke. James breaks down the stroke into parts, enabling us to tackle each movement bit by bit. At the end of the session, you will have the opportunity to put it all back together again and will be given tips on how to improve your skills in this stroke and incorporate breaststroke drills into your pool training, to really make the most of your time in the pool. Suitable for all ability levels, however we advise you should have some pool experience and be able to swim 25m comfortably without stopping. The group will be divided into ability lanes.
